GC 10w30 vs PP 10w30

Without knowing my application, driving habits, car make or model, engine or any specific details.

What do you feel is the better oil?

Castrol Syntec 10w30

or

Pennzoil Platinum 10w30

and why?

PP 10w30 bc of UOA's, Terry likes it and Castrol Syntec is average oil.

Generally I like PP due the probable Shell GrpIII base stock (XHVI). BUT as with so many things there are select standouts in the Syntec line, such as 5W40. Beware things are always changing.

Study the ACEA and auto manufacture spec's they meet for the specific weight.

Also look at Castrol SLX Professional 0W30.

Both the PP and Syntec line-ups are excellent based on used oil analyses here, and my observations. The cleanest engines I have seen have been run on Syntec 5w30. The Syntec 10w30 is probably similar. If you want a more robust Castrol product then run the Syntec 0w30 or the Elixion 5w30. Both are PAO based.

Because a lot of times PP is a heck of lot cheaper or free due to all the rebates

It does exist, it is still manufactured. It just isn't sold at Autozone anymore. That makes it a little harder to find.
