If you go by research octane it's about 93-94 R+M/2 on the pump gas scale.

Either way, yes and yes.

In California the highest octane fuel at normal gas stations is 91. They use the (RON+MON)/2 method. There are a few gas stations on the other side of the bay where the google and oracle people live that sell over 100 octane gasoline for their hotrods.

here in the flat lands of Ohio, approx elevation of 875ft, the usual grades are 87,89,91 octanes, BP used to have 93 instead of the 91, but I've not purchased their gas in a few years.
i noticed out west, in the High Desert of Southern Idaho, where my mom's family lives, approx elevation 3740ft, their Regular is 85, with the mid-grade being 87. (only been out there once in the last 15 yrs, and didn't have to buy gas myself on that trip, didn't get a real good look @ the pumps to see what all 3 grades were..

though i do remember some stations out there in the late 80's/early 90's that still had "regular" Pumps, as well as the "regular unleaded" ,luckily for me, i also discovered they had different sized nozzles. the "regular" nozzle wouldn't fit into the car calling for unleaded.
