Gas Prices in Cali - Suck

For the first time that I can remember. I am unable to find any grade of gas for less than $3 a gallon. Even at the discount stations. Truly a bummer.

I can attest to the same situation since I am in the Bay area also. The way gasoline is sold is stupid; it has nothing to do with the actual cost to produce it plus a reasonable mark up. If there was a real shortage at the pump I could see a valid reason for it, but that isn't the case. Refineries being down for maintenance and change over to summer formulas are lame excuses, imo.

$3.15+ for a gallon of gas
MEDIAN home price $900k+

Actually the median home price in my area of Northern California has just dropped almost 200K. Many people will be slowly discovering they owe more than their homes are worth.

I live next door to Chevron headquarters; their profits usually go up when the price of gas does, which indicates they maintain their margins regardless.

...

living in California...not exactly priceless.

But...

That's a pretty view in California, and I know there are many of them. But I'll take the $700K I save on a new house out here and visit CA as often as I like to see them.

Then I'll come back to my nice, safe, and inexpensive little corner of the world and enjoy the beauty and serenity that our natural environment has to offer.

(Shhh...don't tell anyone!)

If gas is too expensive, quit driving.

Long suburban commutes in personal inefficient vehicles is NOT sustainable living...

I can do my job anywhere there is a broadband connection. That includes my house. Unfortunately, the typical manager mentality seems to be that if you're not in the office, you're not doing any work.

the mobil station by my house is $3.67 for premium. that picture is of the beach at Santa Barbara, i was just there at a few bars.

o and im not complaining about gas prices. i bought my mustang knowing full well that it isnt meant for gas conservation.

my house that my family owns is a 2 story, 5 bedroom house, no land, and its worth about 1.2 million.

yeah, i hear you, my sister can't even buy a house out there....
yet, my 3 bedroom 1 bath ranch with 23 acres is worth about $30k in central NY....prime land too.

"AND drive less-"

You tell 'em, "ted s." You DO have options, one being to spend less time behind the wheel, burning that $3 gas. I have changed my habits; what doesn't get done that day on the daily commute waits until the next day. No extra trips- and it's really amazing, just like quitting smoking. If you can just hold on and do it long enough, it becomes a habit and you don't even notice.

As for "Nice! Restrict the right of personal movement so government has control of where you can go...", spare me the paranoia and conspiracy theories. We had our wakeup call in 1973 and didn't do squat about it; now prepare for even more REALITY.

I saw regular for $2.19 for regular here in Arkansas today. I did a big double take!

It must be nice is all I can say. . .

It's almost 100 miles from here is the only thing. It's almost 30 cents more here, but it's not as bad as Cali. I feel for you.

I busted a nut re-installing an OXY sensor in the CRV. We were getting a solid 14 mpg with it not functioning. Mechanic did a lousy job with the connections, the "barrel" quick connectors were not solid, he stripped only 1/4 onch of wire and one of the se connectors wes broken. No wonder I got no output when it was scanned. I'm hoping to get back to 22-24 mpg. 14 mpg is just SERIOUSLY painfull. I don't understand how people can live with those kind of numbers. $.10c a mile is a good target.

heck, right now, my Galant doesn't have an O2 sensor....stripped the #@$%! out of it when my mechanic and i torched it out of the cast iron manifold this weekend....the bolt seems to fit nicely where the O2 sensor belongs LOL...
by the time you looked at new gaskets for when you drop the manifold, the manifold itself, with new hardware, was only $60 from rockauto...so why not save me the trouble of tapping a cast iron manifold and hoping the sensor fits?

I wonder what that did to the cats. If you start getting a catalyst efficiency below threshold code (P0420 or P0430), send the bill for replacing them to your mechanic.
