I think, long long ago, gas price pictures degraded into prohibited political conversation.

I, honestly, find them uninteresting. Though I understand the "hunter" aspect of "shooting" something rare, and dare I say it, beautiful.

There are several posted in this current thread. Its somehow managed to stay unpolitical - but there is a good debate over if its big oil or gouging retailers - or both maybe.

I bought gas last week for 2.65 a gallon in mid Michigan. It is now 3.29 a gallon. I would always see 30-40 cent jumps which I think are still ridiculous. But this is by far the most outrageous jump. Why???

Where we all get screwed good is how all retailers (mostly true) blame 99% of price hikes on the prices of fuel. YET, if so.... then how come the prices NEVER drop back to the pre- high fuel prices when the prices really drop far....? Same thing with our local energy monopoly here. They are so very fast to add the $$$$ "fuel adjustment" hikes to your power bills YET they never readjust back to normal pre high fuel prices either.

Everyone probably has seen the news that philips and another refinery is leaving cali, our Costco price on premium is $4.59, can't wait till it hits $5....The thing is it is going to hit some other states in the SW.

And you can easily find $3.65 for rag at cheapie stations. I haven't seen prices like these since I can't remember...

Anyone can search gas prices on the internet. There are places that have a higher spread in the price between 87 octane and premium gas. I'm in Ohio, these are pics from November:


Yes, Some Sunoco stations sell 94 octane.

Saw that both the warehouse clubs closest to me (Costco/BJ's) both went to $1.99 for RUG.
When using the Costco CC @ Costco., takes it down to $1.89.
I'll take it.

Well, California is "special".
My foresight in buying my Maverick has paid off, my long term average per the computer is 44.8 mpg. I've heard it may be a percent or two off........

Filled one car Sunday for 1.72 per gallon in Westminster, CO. Filled our other car Monday at same Shell station for 1.87. (these prices include .10 King Soopers (Kroger affiliate).

It's because States raise revenue by taxing gas at the Pump. I think California has the highest state gas pump taxes in the U.S.

There is no such thing as a free market.
In CA we pay high gas prices for many reasons, including state and local taxes, complex fuel requirements and we are in an isolated market (delivery, refineries and such).

Heck, what does rent on a gas station cost? Of course we make more money here, so there's that.
Hey, spare a poor boy some splash cash? I need to gas up...
