And it's not even ethanol free gas. Ugh.
Your not wrong.
But the retailers make more per gallon than the oil companies. A lot more. They seem to make even more than usual when the price goes up - amount over spot.
And I know of no oil company involved in starting a ME war.![]()
I always knew of it as fenner also. Lately its been called Goffs. According to the www its actually in Essex,ca.I think that's Fenner. Goffs is the next town east of there on Rt. 66.
yep esp. gas branded stations (shell, exxon, BP)Maybe not a good deal overall, but that 30 cents/gallon spread is definitely something we don't see around here. It's about $1.20/gallon extra for premium near me.
Myth perpetuated by the retail industry. Below is the spot price of gas yesterday.Hmm, I was under the impressions gas stations don’t make a ton of profit but the real money is getting people in the door to pay $2 for a single water when you paid $2 for the whole case of 24. Or for high margin garbage like cigarette and alcohol. I’d love to know the real margin on gas. Because if you make your gas $0.03 cheaper than the guy across the street you might gain a lot in in-store sales.
Half glass of 90 proof high octane if I paid CA pricesGlass half full.
Some see it as a glass half full. Some see it as a glass half empty. I see it as time to order another drink!
I definitely appreciate the information. I’m not one to quickly appoint blame it’s just something I have heard many times my entire life. But I like data, so I see that, and problem solvedMyth perpetuated by the retail industry. Below is the spot price of gas yesterday.
California tax is 61 cents per gallon. So 3.04 + 61 = $3.65. Avg price is $5.29 = $1.64 to cover transport and retail margin.
I have posted it on this site countless times. People blindly believe what they want - its big oils fault. Mind control.

And the roads are so tore up that the fillings in your teeth rattle.California tax is 61 cents per gallon.
Yep I bet there is some ambiguity on the part of the Post Office and the Google. Another example is Nelson Ghost Town in Nevada which has a Searchlight NV address, despite it being about 25 miles away.I always knew of it as fenner also. Lately its been called Goffs. According to the www its actually in Essex,ca.

Goffs recently got an old stamp mill for crushing gold ore and it works. It's on my list of things to go see.Yep I bet there is some ambiguity on the part of the Post Office and the Google. I really love those old desert sections of Rt. 66. All those little town names were originated by the railroad, and in that area they are mostly in alphabetical order - other than A and B being reversed. Bagdad, Amboy, Cadiz, Danby, Essex, Fenner, Goffs, Homer, Ibis, Java.... I don't think there is a K. Well, there IS a Klondike, but it's near Siberia west of Amboy.
Goffs is home to the Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Center, and a historic schoolhouse and train station. It's a good spot for photos.

Or, cross the little K Street bridge over the Colorado to Arizona and save another $2 a gallon. There's multiple gas stations in Needles, CA... only 35 miles away. $2 a gallon cheaper.
got to keep greedy Mr. modern business man in the money, the heck with the common consumer it seems, just price gouging at it best. Keep stocked up your engine oil inventory soon as you can before ,,,, price increases happen.
Supply and Demand! I brought the Wyoming mentality and lifestyle with me back to Kansas. It's better to have supplies and not need to use them then to need supplies and not have them. Also try to always keep your gas tank above half full for winter weather or if you're down here in the Midwest Tornado Alley. If you got a bug out you can't get very far on a quarter tank of fuelLast week someone here asked if anyone has actually seen stupid high gas prices in person.
A friend just sent me this Pic. This is an off grid station on I-40 about 100 miles east of Barstow,ca. It's the only place to get gas for many miles.
Station runs on Diesel generators and Solar as there's no power ran to the area. They have a sign out front that says you are welcome to leave if you don't like their prices.
