Last week someone here asked if anyone has actually seen stupid high gas prices in person.

A friend just sent me this Pic. This is an off grid station on I-40 about 100 miles east of Barstow,ca. It's the only place to get gas for many miles.

Station runs on Diesel generators and Solar as there's no power ran to the area. They have a sign out front that says you are welcome to leave if you don't like their prices.

Coming to WA SOON!

While California gas prices suck for many reasons, mainly dumb policies from a government that works against its people, you can't consider some ultra low volume gas station in the middle of nowhere as representative of gas prices in an entire state. That said, gas is going up QUICK (which negatively affects all of us, including V owners, because everything you buy or service you have done relies on gas). Most stations in Napa where I live are over $5/gallon. OOF. Hey, at least it might help EV sales a little...

AAA says average price in CA is $5.29.

Goffs = Middle of Nowhere USA. I used to drive through there years ago for work on occasion. If one needs gas there, they didn't properly plan ahead.
Almost exactly my thought when I saw this. Although, I have been to Nowhere, NV and that is very remote, on the way to completely remote. It is just at the southern edge of Empire, NV, which is a couple miles from Gerlach, NV. I go through there a couple of times a year on my way to Washington. Burning Man fans would know where the towns are.

That's European pricing. Who in their right mind would run a gas station on generators and solar panels, let alone not fill up ahead of time.

There is a solo Shell station on I-26 on the way into Columbia SC. Sorta the middle of nowhere but fairly close to somewhere. Its consistently 50 cents higher than stations all up and down the interstate. I guess its business model is unsuspecting tourists. Its had this strategy forever.

I think that's Fenner. Goffs is the next town east of there on Rt. 66.

I had a rental car some years ago, with a tire that leaked air. That's a lousy area to have a flat tire, but the good folks at the Chevron had a free air hose and I made ample use of it, headed east and west both. That place is all right with me.

There's multiple gas stations in Needles, CA... only 35 miles away. $2 a gallon cheaper.
Every time I pass through Goffs I see a u-haul getting fueled. My best guess is that a family is moving. Missed the turn for Bullhead, saw the prices at Needles and decided that Goffs may be cheaper.

Once at Goffs they are stuck.

That area is absolutely beautiful if you like the desert and is full of history. This station is right on old 66 too.

Plus maybe someone inherited the land and knew they couldn't sell it. There's a duck pond there also.
