Gas drops $0.30/gallon today

Found gas in the next-door county for $3.799/gallon.
A couple of years ago, around mid-night, i wanted to get some gas and approached two gas stations, across the street from each other, which had the same price. It was $1.34/litre. The station i pulled into was closing and i was their last customer.
I pulled out after filling up and the station across the street had jacked up the price to $1.45/litre. I figured the only logical reason for the price increase is the supply and demand mechanism at work, just as an "expert" stated on TV!

Well, as I said none of the stations here dropped at all as crude and gas prices on the market were dropping. Not a penny! However, yesterday afternoon as those market prices rose again the local stations all raised their prices upwards of 5 cents a gallon in response. Freaking criminal IMO.
If people want to fix the economy, or at least get it back on track and going the right way, something MUST be done to lower and then stabilize energy costs. Period and end of story. Energy costs are KILLING the average person.

Downtown St Louis, $3.229 this AM.
Just watch the new today, they say average family could save up to 75 dollar a month.

It's profit-taking. Somebody did a study and concluded that station owners will only pass along the savings when it's unavoidable. So they'll sell as much as they can at the more profitable price like any good businessperson.
Likely there's some level at which the cigs/coffee/soda/candy sales drop when the gas price remains high vs. their competition, and that spurs the drop. Or somebody drops the price early to spur additional purchases inside the Kwik-E-Mart.
The gas stations only make a penny or two profit off each gallon of gas sold, I've been told. All the profits come from the sales in the convenience stores, again so I'm told.

Why this have to happent when I sold my gas guttler car and buy a little better fuel economy car
^don't think so. I can see Shell gas station in downtown near my work everyday, and everyday their price is 30 cents more then the rest of city. I always wondered which idiot would fill up there? I did fill up there once, when my car was empty and I had no choice, bu filled only couple gallons to fill on the way back on different station.
If I would own my own Shell for example, I would drop price immediately in that situation,like 15-20 cents less than rest and have a huge line of cars to fill up. I've seen it once for about 2 years ago when we got hit $4 gas first, at some old [censored] station,and their price was only 10-15 down.

yeah and cigarette prices are ridiculous at that gas station too.
