Garden Planting Time

Like to supplement your questions.

What are Bitogers planting this year that they generally can't buy at the grocery store?

In the ground are 360 garlics, 270 onions, potatoes (10') and snap peas (7'). Seedlings under lights are broccoli (12), cauliflower (12), and beets (8). Next to go under lights will be hot peppers (12), sweet peppers (6), eggplant (6), tomatoes (30), Brussels sprouts (6), and basil (8). Direct seeding in May will be corn (88), beans (12'), cucumbers (6'), winter squash (4) and thyme (4). The garden in zone 6b is 50' x 50' and also has perennial beds of oregano (15') and asparagus (10').

Wife put in 14 tomatoes yesterday, she hasn't counted all the eggplants, green beans, potatoes, 5 grape vines, 1 apple tree.
Banana peppers, squash, cucumbers, bell peppers going in soon, just waiting on the starters to finish baking in the mini greenhouse.

I always plant tomatoes and peppers. Also have grapes and blackberries.

So far just potatoes. Planning on getting some flowers to grow. And dad likes to grow tomatoes so I’m going to help him with that too. I may try my luck again with cantaloupe I’ve never been successful or the deer eat them so one of these days maybe I can be successful.

Trying tomatoes and Thai hot peppers from seed. Had my youngest do most of the work. Two seeds per pod and couple drops of long release fertilizer. Going to water morning and night. Grandpa might have alot of tomatoes, the peppers will stay up here. Supposedly signing on the new place on 4/10 so it won’t be ready but at least I can move stuff to clear a spot up here. Next year building a fenced and covered garden location down there.

As far as vegetables, none. I do love landscaping, and I do miss having a small vegetable garden which at any time in the past was mostly tomato plants, green peppers, string beans, and cucumbers.

As far as landscaping, still work in progress on our new home of two years.

Just ordered these three palm trees over the weekend to be installed in our backyard.
This will be the first time in my life. I’m paying somebody to dig a hole and plant something.
Not possible to pick up and plant on my own🙃

Zone 4 here, Central IA

I'm a touch early, but our weather has made me too itchy to not plant.

1. Lettuces and lettuce mixes
2. Kale
3. Peas
4. Turnip (old seed, only 1 sprouted)
5. Carrots, again old seed and not sprouted, but I refreshed the area with new seed over the weekend.

I'll probably have volunteer potatoes. I seem to get a couple every year. In fact, I quit planting them last year since I was getting so many volunteers.

I started my peppers and tomatoes 2 weeks ago, and bought a grow light this year. They are doing well, and I'm thinking I started them about 2 weeks too early!
