My garage floor space measures 245.25'' Deep x 212.50'' Wide.

I can't park a full size pickup in there. 22' x 26' would be nice.

Make sure there is sufficient space between bays! It seems every production builder over the past 25 yrs saves money by building the bays too close to each other.

Consider the price of material and the sweet spot in lumber, rafters etc.
calc, which one makes $$$ sense, going wider or going longer.
I would build it double deep and as high as possible, then put in a loft for storage

And remember 2x the wall makes 4x the interior space. Though if you have to fill in a low corner doing site work that can grow exponentially.

I'd consider wider vs deeper with the M/C and lawnmower, it is a pain in the rear end to have to move the car every time you want to ride or mow.

My neighbor has a garage door at the back of his garage as well, then the ATV, mowers, etc can escape out that way instead of moving a car or two.

As everyone else said go as big as you can. Wider is better than deeper to me because the garage starts to become a tunnel when you accumulate things.

This is my dream garage. I'd like to have it 2.5 cars wide by about 1.5 cars deep, and I'd have a single wide overhead door on both ends, making it a pull-through garage. Ideally, I'd be able to make it 1.5 stories, with a full staircase to lots of attic storage.

Looking like I'll be doing a 24x24 garage. Growing up we had a 22x25 garage and it fit our needs. I measured out multiple options and this size fits our yard nicely.

Good deal, if you have the easement on the side, have the roof like come out for extra wide overhang. Very useful to keep stuff out of the elements.

I built sort of a 1 and 1/2 story with long studs for the walls. very little additional expense.
Lay in a ledger board to support the ceiling joists partway down the wall. I guess you could use trusses somehow, but I just made rafters.

The length of the span across the garage with the doors is important. Then the direction of the rafters in relationship to the doors, with that large span you will need a header to support the roof.

Are you going to run the doors under the peak of the gables, or parallel to the ridge pole?
