Garage floor sealant.

I'm looking to seal my garage floor, and want some opinions on the best brands and best value at a local brick-and-mortar store. Seven years ago I sealed the garage in my old house, I remember doing it the summertime and having issues with it adhering because it was so humid in the garage. My current garage floor is actually in pretty decent shape with not a lot of oil stains. Any tips on making this go as easy as possible?

Use TSP and make sure its good and clean first no matter what sealer you use.

Going solid color or just clear?

I have never been able to epoxy a garage floor and get the paint to stick. The proper way is to have a professional come in with a machine and grind away the top layer and lay down the epoxy. The quote I got for my 2 car garage was around $2k.

I gave up and ended up just ordering a G-Floor mat. It's great!

The last time I tried the DIY method, I had an unpainted slab in good condition, I acid etched and cleaned the floor over and over, used the most expensive epoxy I could buy and it still chipped and came up in less than a year.

I used the Rust-Oleum epoxy paint product and their cleaner that came with the kit. In three yrs not a single chip. It has stayed perfect....I did TWO coats though. The slab was 5 yrs old before the application. I'm satisfied with the results. I'm careful not to damage it but moving objects that might "scrape" across the floor. I don't think its 100% durable.

No way I'm dishing out 2k. When I did that first garage, the problem I had was the area right under the motorcycle tires. After they'd sit a while, and I went to roll them away, it would peel some off. The rest of the floor was OK. Once I put a couple coats on, it was OK. As I recall, it was VERY Cheap, like $14 for a bucket of paint, and $5-$10 for the prep cleaner. I'm willing to spend more on better product.
