G-Body as part of the halftime show of Super Bowl LIX.

Missed it all….

judging by what I heard, didn’t miss much……
Apparently so. I gave up on the NFL a few years ago when they were acting out and did not watch it. I walked the dogs while it was going on and noticed my neighbors SB party in their garage had busted up. Their outdoor TV was off and they were doing other things. I asked them "why are you not watching the SB?" and they laughed. Seems like the score was 40-6 or something like that at the time.

I saw that. I don't know who he was, but kind of disrespectful to the GNX to be standing on the hood.
That was my first thought too. My kids were wondering how so many people could fit. I suspect it wasn’t really a real one, just a body made to look like it with the interior removed and no floor. (Edit, note the article @Astro14 provided)

That car was the most memorable part of the halftime show. Game was great for me. Funny the chiefs’ score shows far better than they played. The rest of the halftime show was unmemorable. I couldn’t really make out the music or words. The female dancers in the white outfits were ok.

Ugh, that’s depressing.

Right up there with all those Chargers destroyed by the Dukes of Hazzard. Loved the show as a kid. As an adult, it breaks my heart that they killed over 80 chargers for that show.
Check out the Vinwiki episode on YouTube where a guy found the first General Lee in a junkyard. It's one of those it can't be but sure enough.

From Car & Driver: 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds. Not bad for 1987.

Got a text regarding the halftime show:
"I hope someone publishes a transcript of the lyrics."

Me: It was inexcusably thin. It was a exercise in "drill". It was rehearsed, sure, but the choreography was nil.
The repetition was stultifying at best.
There's an 11:00PM / 365 show on SNY called "Honda Sportsnight".
One of their guys gave the show "...an F, maybe an F-", and these guys aren't redneck racists or anything like that.

Also, very cool ads from Stelantis, including a totally awesome Jeep ad with Harrison Ford.

"Freedom is for everybody, even goofballs who like to trade little rubber ducks back and forth, but it isn't free."

You're right Harrison Jeep, but Temu does make it pretty inexpensive though.

It wasn’t a real GNX, or if it was it was gutted inside and probably missing the floor as well. Not sure why standing on the hood of this car is such a big deal. 🤷
It was a real GNX, because Kendrick Lamar has a connection to the GNX, having been brought home from being born in a Regal, buying an GNX, and titling his most recent album GNX.

Doesn’t anybody read the previous posts anymore?

Whatever it is, it clearly needed to be destroyed on the inside to allow the dancers to come out of the vehicle. But people are making a big deal from the fact that the rapper was standing on the hood.
That was my original point.

And given the money involved in the spectacle, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if they butchered an actual GNX.

They DID butcher an actual GNX. Multiple sources reported that - and I linked one of them in a previous post.

One of the themes of Kendrick Lamar’s music is authenticity, which is why he got into it with Drake, who grew up in Canada in relative comfort. Kendrick is from Compton, and grew up in relative poverty. He maintains that beginnings, and therefore music and message, are authentic and feels that Drake is not.

Knowing that - I figured it would be real GNX - the authenticity matters to him. He doesn’t care for fronting, and for those who appear to be something they are not.

way more than 80.
145 episode run, and they AVERAGED 2-3 per episode.
at one point in production they had small planes flying all over so.Cal looking for Chargers in backyards, etc....

Once someone buys a car they do have a right to stand on the hood or do other strange things to it. That seems to be his way to demonstrate literal ownership.

I knew there would be a post on this today. My first thought at half time was its a shame they ruined a GNX for this...
