I'll have to try this on my Bolens. The darn thing won't start worth a [censored], and won't continue running unless the choke is kept slightly closed. Since it acts as if it is geting too much air maybe the real problem is too little fuel.

agreed-went through 2 Homelite hand held leaf blowers-they each lasted almost exactly 2 years. Purchased An Echo 251 so now I'm hooked-I knew it was going to be a winner from the first pull of the engine-it was blowing leaves and the engine had not started yet.
I am now in the market for a replacement for the 15 year old McCullough trimmer-after 2 carb rebuilds it(and me) has had it

Went trimmer shopping today and looked at the Stihl FS 55R and Echo SRM 225. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Stihl- bigger engine, adjustable carb, and $20 less.

I recently bought a Homelite trimmer at Home Depot and it too ran poorly, but I adjusted the carb by using the Dremel to slot the mixture screws, but all I did was just slot them at the same time and slotted the outer tamper housing too. Just make a single slot all the was across both screws and the housing at the same time. It doesn't matter if you slot the tamper resistant casting around the outside because it has no function anyway.

Ahhh so THAT is what those are. Mine has this too I was trying to figure out what they were.
