Steam engines were invented in Britain and the technology was stolen by and improved upon by the USA. 
there is something you learn in school that the Chinese have never had to learn. when you copy someone's homework and use test banks to prepare for the test. you never learn anything and are no further ahead knowledge wise than you were before that class, and it always comes back to bite you one way or another.
Looking at the title I thought this would be about a SUMMER day yesterday and a BLIZZARD today somewhere. It's amazing what some people write and think people will believe it.
The engines and other high tech moving parts now flying that C919 were all bought and imported from Western companies. Development of Chinese made versions, even if they are trying to make direct copies, has not gone well.
This looks almost exactly like the Russian SuperJet 100 project, but China has more resources to stay with it long term.

Don't underestimate China. They have a higher national IQ than the U.S. and have established major technological breakthroughs. In some aspect they are a peer-to-peer competitor. It's the authoritarian system keeping them down, and crusade that has been largely prosecuted by the defense/lobby sector and the tech sector.

I wish it was that simple, regrettably it is not.
When you get the unrestricted contents of a safe, either by being the safe owner, stealing the combination, or drilling the lock, in the end you still have the contents to the safe in your control. And the rightful owner of the contents can't put what you learned from the contents of the safe back in the bottle.
I don't take our advisaries as week, dumb, or incompetent. I see they have fortitude, drive, and a unwavering , steadfast commitment that even short term riches have not distracted from their key tasks to obtain a objective. Their plan is a hundred year plus plan. I can't say the western world has even a 100 day plan.
What the USA started and became the greatest country in the history of the world is that it offered ANYONE, no matter where you came from ir who your parents are, the ability to achieve anything you want in life if you are willing to take the actions to achieve it. That is why, to this day, the entire world still dreams and comes to the USA. I hope and pray what the USA offeres to people who want to obtain their dreams, is still available for future generations. The alternative is .........

It all depends on how you measure the "economy". There is the PPP or "purchasing parity power" method according to which China overtook the US a decade or so ago (if I remember correctly). A good way of visualizing this method is the "Big Mac Index" - you measure everything in terms of Big Mac sandwiches.
The other method is the GDP or "gross domestic product" that we are familiar with and which is measured in dollars. As the dollar strengthens, the GDP of other countries shrinks.

This is probably the most significant piece of info on China in a long time. It reminds me about the release that the USA had a jet liner, the 707, in 1958. The British had the Comet in 1952, and instantly lost their dominance.
Chinese airlines have 1200 Boeing 737 - 800’s. Once they get things lined out with their new plane, Boeing sales of 737’s will be headed down, I’m afraid. Sure, there will be some crashes but look out folks, China means business. Counterfeit NGK sparkplugs are the least of our problems.
