Fun with brake temp paint

Had new rotors for the track event at VIR this weekend. What did the temp paint tell me? Somewhere between 860 and 1021 deg F. Blue turned light brown - that's the first color patch on the left so they were over 527, green turned white - next over working right to left so over 860. Orange stayed orange so didn't hit 1022. Likely in the 900 range which seems reasonable. Pads are rated to ~1500. You can see the brake duct on the LCA on the left side, front of car to left. Those rotors are 350x34mm directionally vaned.

That outside edge is always cooler than the centre of the surface, that centre area blues first. So you could be closer to 1500 than you'd expect.
