Anyone use a fuel additive, other than a stabilizer, in their gas to keep the carb clean in their lawnmower engine? I've been adding Gumout Regane. Am I wasting my money? Never seem to have a starting issue.

yes on Gumout additive in addition to stabilizer for my carb equipped toys. Preventative measure, not doing any scientific analysis, but I sleep better :o)

No.

Proper fuel storage and machine maintenance negate the need for fuel additives in most instances. Drain the carb for off season storage and keep fuel in tightly sealed containers. That's all I do and it has worked for me for decades.

I do add diesel fuel injector cleaner to diesel fuel. I know that is not a wasted effort. If I don't use it, the diesel becomes difficult to start. Gas engines however, don't give me problems.

Blue marine stabil in E0 gas. The blue marine stabil has lots of cleaners in it. I run this year round.

25 yo Murry mower, lil Birggs w/ dirty gas tank with a lot of floaties inside, never any stabilizers, used old gas sometimes 3 yo.

No starting problems or running problems. I do use top oil of anykind of automotive leftovers - just a splash in the mower tank.

Im usually not lucky with gas but this says gumout etc its a waste of $$. I do store the mower under the porch in the shade and I DO NOT hose wash it.

Now does my string trimmer 2 cycle work? Havent use it in three years. Maybe I'll try fire her up this weekend

Since the OP is in NY, hunt for E0. Around Columbia county Stewarts, Pit Stop and another local shop has it.

Getting E0 for any engine not used all the time is more important than a fuel additive.

Not to start a war, but I use MMO in the fuel on all OPE that I have. Never had to use a stabilizer, never any carb problems, and a UCL can't hurt with the E-10 we have around here.

I add a little MMO to all the OPE gas, 2 stroke and 4 stroke. The full tank of stabilized gas in the snow blower had seriously degraded over the off season. Same with the Toro mower. I dumped both tanks and had no trouble with with fresh gas. When the battery was newer in the sitdown, I could just park the mower in the shed and run the carb dry with the shutoff. This is my standard practice if there is a shut off on the engine. A lot less carb troubles since I started doing this and using MMO

I add Seafoam 1 ounce per gallon of gas for mower, rider, weed eater, etc. The Echo weed eater would not keep running. Seafoam prevented me from removing and cleaning carb. Runs fine now.

I tend to use additives vs removing and cleaning. The local mower shop recommended the Seafoam. Would not want to be without it now.

I use nothing and e10. I never have a problem.

I used to use stabil but I haven't had a problem with my 4 stroke stuff and my chain saw won't run month old gas weather or not there is stabilizer in it. I use premium e0 for the saw.

I can only get ethanol free at 93 octane - which I've been using in my snow blower and lawn mower without issues - so far.......

I've never used anything other than Stabil in the fuel. I leave everything full of fuel over the winter and never have had an issue, despite having used E10 for well over 30 years.

Is anyone using Amsoil's Quickshot additive for E10 fuel?
I hear that it works pretty good.
I wouldn't be hesitant to use it.

I think the way the federal law reads, they can only sell premium E0 gas. Or so a gas station owner told me.

I 2nd the use of Seafoam, not only does it clean but acts as a fuel stabilizer.

Stabil at 2X treat rate.

Off season storage with generious dose of MMO added to fuel in the mower.

Run mower until MMO reaches carb then store in shed.

Remove battery, charge monthly or trickle charge.

Berrymans B12 Chemtool added to fuel at first start in the Spring.

E10 OK but will sometimes vapor lock if you shut down hot then attempt restart.
