Some gasoline brands use minimum amounts of cleaners - some like Shell use more.

And the "minimum" amounts were cut in half some years back to reduce the cost of gas - thus a lot of today's fuels do not have near enough cleaners to keep your engine clean.

"Top Tier Gas" fuels are better, but still might need supplemented depending on the deposit characteristics of your engine and for the other benefits some additives can offer such as lubricity, antioxidation, fuel stabilization, and of course better cleaning.

in my area, there are NO top tier gasoline retailers...so I'm hoping Sunoco and Hess are good to go....but i do run Lucas UCL and starting to use Techron, no more 10 for $10 deals.
