Fuel system cleaner need when you only using 93 premium ?

Octane rating has nothing to do with the amount of detergents in gasoline.

While some brands of 93 Octane gasoline do contain more detergents than their 87 Octane gasoline, this is not a universal "truth".

I agree with PWMDMD on the use of both Techron and Berryman B-12, and he is correct that they clean different deposits.

Sure, think it’s typically a bit more cleaner in premium - but none of them close to the level a bottle of Techron brings … and the price/gallon difference is big enough these days to offset a BOGO deal in 3000 miles anyway …

I think using fuel system cleaners can be beneficial. I run my FRS exclusively on 93/94 octane (Esso, Petro Canada, Shell) since I bought it new. But after a year or so it occasionally "stumbles" when pressing the accelerator when accelerating from a stop. Last year I tried using Liqui Moly Fuel System Cleaner and a bottle of Techron a few fillups later and the stumble went away completely.

With top tier fuels, I would think you would only need a fuel cleaner once in a while.

With that, I agree with the choices above.

Its fuel system necessary when I'm only using 93 shell/Exxon/chevron fuels only? If so what good one right now? Thank you .
Dosing charts have been posted on this site in the past and per that documentation premium fuel contains the greatest concentration of detergents a brand will offer at the pump. However it has been suggested that it may be beneficial for the internals of some injectors to occasionally (example 10k-20k miles) supplement with a product like Berrymans B12 and/or a high PEA containing product such as Techron, Redline Si-1, etc. I've also read that changing brands may be helpful as well because the detergent package is different.

Needed? Who knows. I use Shell/Exxon fuels exclusively too and I run a can Barryman B12 and a bottle of Techron (it's my understanding they clean different deposits) as part of the 5,000-mile service for my vehicles because it's cheap, easy and why not?

How exactly do you use both products ? separate or at the same time ?

What does the Berryman do that Techron doesnt ?

My 17 Outback 3.6 is the first vehicle I've used very little cleaner in. In 170k miles I've used Techron 3 or 4 times. I almost always use Tier 1 87 octane gas. Makes me wonder if it's actually "needed" in my nat asp engine. DI may be a different story? Not so sure.

I run them separately in different fill ups but there's no solid rationale behind this decision. The Barryman B12 is good for varnish and Techron is good for carbon deposits.

I would run them separately.

Berryman B-12 is a solution of strong solvents (toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, acetone, etc.) that will dissolve varnishes and other organic based "crud" that cthean be found in fuel systems.

Techron is a PEA based solution that goes after the deposits that may be found in or on fuel injector tips and on valves which are not typically removed by the solvents in Berryman B-12.

These fuels were analyzed in May of 2011 . Not sure if this still applies to this day  . If so , would go with SPEEDWAY Premium .

Starts at 2:07 .

Honestly I've never been big on fuel additives for automobiles. As long as your not using a no-name gas station, I wouldn't worry too much honestly.

The Tacoma top tier 87, redline SL1 before every oil change.
The Pilot top tier 87 sometimes, redline SL1 at 60% and 20% olm since it’s DI.
