Posting this FRAM ultra filter for member DustyRoads. Looks good for
The mileage and it's off a 2011 Ford Taurus

Many thanks to car51 for helping me out!

I took these pics last year. I ran Valvoline Synpower and the Blackstone report said that my filter was "used up". The insolubles were at 0.7%. My own theory was that the oil may have cleaned up a little (it was a former rental car). I also ran two doses of Techron (one at about 3500 miles and another near the end of the oci).

I had never seen black deposits in the can like in this one. I haven't seen it since either. While I didn't undo the media to look for pin holes under light, it appeared to be perfectly healthy.

Wow that caught a bunch of grit! My Fram ultras have hardly anything in them after 9000 miles. Tell him to check his air filter and associated plumbing

. I truly think it was cleaned out carbon that was deposited after loading up the filter. I have never seen such a thing myself until this one.

I have since switched to the FL500S for 5k oci's and they have been nice and clean inside when dissected.

The Ultra was a good move for the first OCI on an ex-rental, I know the Enterprise rentals I've had for work all seem pretty neglected. What oil was used for this OCI? Whatever it was, it did a nice job of cleaning.

I actually ran QSUD with an Ultra for my first oci. I cut that one open at same time as this one. The filter run with QSUD was clean like what we mostly see here in this forum. This was my second oci on the car. My belief is that the Synpower did some serious cleaning but the Techron had to have been a part of what you see in these pics.
