Fram Ultra Cartridge (20k mile rated) for Lexus GX460 after 12.5k miles

12,452 on Fram Ultra Filter

Just removed cartridge filter after about 12,452 miles. Taking skid plates off to examine for potential coolant leaks following two UOAs with 17ppm and 18ppm Potassium. Figured I might as well swap out the filter while I was underneath the GX460.

Will cut open pleats and post pics after oil is done draining w/in a few days.

Would you run this for 20,000 mile OCI?

Putting OEM Toyota/Lexus back in for now. Have several Fram Titanium from AAP, several OEM Lexus, and a couple SuperTech.

No, I'd not run one for 20k if not wire backed or a filter without reinforced media. Looks like it did ok. A bit twisty though. How long do you plan to run the OEM filter? Good run, Thanks!

Probably run the OEM filter for 10k total (2 5k oil changes). Although, I just did oil change too with 2qts HPL EC 30wt added to 6qts ST HM 5w30. So, maybe check the filter in 2k to 3k miles. (Dry fill on this engine is 11.7 qts).

Still trying to figure out the Potassium in my last 2 UOAs. Got a block tester on loan from Autozone today to check for exhaust gas coming into radiator. But, will have to drain some coolant first. Hopefully do that this weekend. Maybe take to Toyota dealer next week.

Cat labs thinks it’s too small a leak to actually find…but I need to do so before my extended warranty expires in 12k miles or 8/26.
