FTC Operation Steer Clear

I've had the unfortunate occasion to have to file a written complaint with FTC against a car dealership that advertised the price of a car, then confirmed the price via email... only to change the price AFTER my test drive, citing a computer error. FTC does follow up with complaints

I had a similar situation many years ago when a cell phone company changed the terms of my contract without my consent. A written complaint to FCC got me out of my contract early.

The consumer protection agencies are out there for a reason. We the taxpayers are paying for them, might as well use them... the squeaky wheel gets the grease

So YOU are the reason they now include that they have the right to adjust your terms without your consent!! lol

On a serious note, this is a good thing. Too many crooked dealers out there just looking for the right person to scam. Unfortunately this happens too often. I once went on a test drive while they were appraising my truck at the time, and when I got back and didn't like the fact that they were attempting to raise the price of the car I wanted, put a giant dent in my hood after I told them to shove it. Guess who got stuck with that bill!? Lesson learned.

I had a popular credit card from one of the major banks. I might guess that anything from tens of thousands to millions of people have the same card.

The company changes the rewards structure mid way during my membership year. Everyone is so annoyed they all decide they won't renew. I cancelled and couldn't get a pro rata refund until I went to the financial watchdog.
