This was run with Castrol 5w30k in my Fiesta ST with a bigger turbo. It has about 3500 miles on it.

I’d changed the oil a few weeks ago and decided to finally cut this open. Idk why, but in my mind it was a Wix (what I posted in the oil change thread)

I don’t have pics of the flashlight test where the spring meets the core but it passed (my camera taking those pics, not so much)

Good looking filter otherwise. No wire backing. I did have some magnets on the filter as well.

When I brighten my screen I do see the ridges around the leaf spring. Kind of hard to tell since there's oil on it. Good pics & filter media looks good. Hardly used in fact. Thanks for posting it.

Thank You

Let’s just say my wife and I were taking pics of the flashlight test and those pics never happened.

My wife was the camerawoman.

It’s easier to blame my phone than my wife if you know what I mean. I do enjoy not being in the doghouse

Looks good at 3500 miles. As pleating and spacing would indicate, definitely not OG XG media. But at this oci/fci, current XG media should easily handle it. Very good that it passed your flashlight test. While I see some ripples, they look to be outside the area where seal contact made. Bypass piece looks pretty good. I'd say this one got the job done.

Thanks for c&p.

It was found the side nubs on the bypass spring were also a factor in leaving a gap. I found it on the new mini size PH4967 filter. The nubs prevent the seal area from pressing together, no matter the force applied. I don’t see them on this filter, but it’s oily.

Date code looks to be: A30202. So that would be a build date of January 20th, 2023, if I’m reading it correctly.
Could be why the leaf spring is stamped correctly ... made 2 years ago, to the day.
