I haven't applied to an in-person job in many years several years back i walked into an ace hardware when i first moved to south carolina looking for work and the manager told me to apply from my home computer. I really don't know where one finds a job like that in 2026. Anyway moving forward appreciate all the moral support some good news come through from an interview earlier last week and have accepted that offer. 1.7 miles each way from my home now the worry about fuel dilution and short trips always something. lol

Type of jobs? Machinist, Mechanic, Heavy equipment operator, and most all the other SKILLED type jobs, and most all construction type jobs. No your not going to get a computer programmer job that way, nor any job where you just warm a seat in an office some place.
I remember years ago getting asked if I wanted a job just walking on to a construction job site. I also suppose you don't get a job in some corporate conglomerate by not using a computer either. Like Boeing, etc.
The best way to get a job is to know a lot of people in the business with the jobs you are capable of doing.
And could be why no one is applying, because some of us are not giving info out to the internet, now days. Back in the older days when you could safely wear your Boeing badge that proudly displayed your Social Security number, are gone for good, huge thanks to the internet and over use of the digital garbage.
Yes, knowing people within the company you want to work at helps especially if they can do employee referral and they talk to the boss.

Those were good days for certain its a new wave out there unfortunately we have to wave bye-bye to them days and embrace what we got now. Unfortunately there's certain things out of our control even if we were able to fill out a paper app who's to say your employer doesn't file your information on a computer, don't forget jobs e-verify and if a background check is needed your info is going out in the world wild web of unknown.
