Highest-paying trade jobs in 2024, according to Indeed

Truck driver??
I happened onto a forum where they were discussing this some time back. It sounded much harder than they want to make it. If you don't have experience, even with a license the only ones that will hire you are these really shotty companies that treat you like crap, pay you like crap, and leave you stranded in places without a load for long periods, etc. It seems you have to put your time in there for a while before a better place will hire you.

And if you have an accident during that period, your career is pretty much over from the sounds of it.

Sounded like high risk for moderate reward for someone just starting out? I don't know if we have any pro drivers here that con confirm or deny?

My gut feeling is that this chart is a very flawed study by Indeed (maybe much of what is published today is very flawed).

Nonetheless, it is interesting to look at and thought provoking when talking about what trades pay to young people making career decisions. Two of the most surprising items in the list were the dental hygienist and electrician. I had no idea dental hygienist was a top paying field (again-likely flawed stats), and electrician was not a better paying field (can't stress enough likely flawed numbers).

Want to stress I think the below data may have been published by a guy in his mom's basement- but still thought provoking.

  • Ultrasonographer: $131,161
  • Respiratory therapist: $104,437
  • Dental hygienist: $99,013

Welder should be on that list. My new neighbor next door just moved in young guy late 20's early 30's married with his first kid due. Wife is a biologist from what his sister and bil said. Apparently nobody knows how to weld well or how to weld wit tig vs mig etc. I talked to a guy recently who said he's pulling down $125k a year and turns down work.
