Picked up a couple Banquet frozen dinners last week for $0.69 each. Just got done eating the first one (Yes, at 10:40 AM) and man, are they terrible! Anyone else think that? Not worth $0.69, IMO!

Any TV dinner is nasty. I only eat them last resort. If you're talking the worst, I say the big man ones..err big hungry man or whatever the name is.

I get the chicken nuggets with brownie. Suprisingly good for the price. Also the salisbury steak with yellow cheese sauce.

More filling than Burger King for the money. They're a good backup at work for when I don't have enough home cooked leftovers.

I'm not opposed to frozen foods but Banquet is just plain nasty.

I can get some frozen popcorn shrimp from Aldi (source: Southeast United States Atlantic for $1.79) throw them in the toaster oven while I shred a little lettuce and cut up a tomato. Tortilla, a little garlic sauce, Feta, and habanero sauce. Voila!
Shrimp tacos.

If you have a few extra minutes, you can do the same thing with frozen battered fish fillets.

Costs a little more, but unlike the Banquet dinner, it's completely edible.

Chicken Nuggets with brownie is what I had. Nasty, IMO. I can stomach, some brands, like Marie Callanders and Stoffers.

When I was in college we used to eat the NightHawk brand because they were $.88. Nasty stuff. Of course price was the primary concern at that time. A friend of mine even wrote a song about the nighthawk dinners... I can't remember how it goes now, however.

These days, I couldn't tell you the last time I ate one. We do keep a couple of stoffers and patio brand ones in the deep freeze. Occasionally they get eaten. The Hungry Man brand is probably the tastiest one. I think it's funny how they advertise that it's a full pound of food. That cracks me up.

The Healthy Choice, some Stoffers, and Lean Cuisine frozen dinners are all right. Banquet?

I wouldn't feed that [censored] to my dog. My brother eats those things all the time. Blaaaaah.

Amy's organic Veggie Lasagna is where its at. I'm telling you, it is seriously good stuff and nice nutrition facts too. It is about $3.99 a piece though

You get what you pay for. lol

There are many people in the world that go weeks without eating. So, where we say it's not worth .69 cents. Some people would sell there first born for one.

I would say that Marie Callenders are very good, but since I met my current g.f. I have been eating a lot more vegetables and started dieting and have been noticing that even tv dinners are goin up in price. Heck, I get my milk delivered every monday morning; $3 for a gallon and it comes in two half gallon glass bottles, and its 2% milk, just pasteurized and homogonized.

adam

sorry to go lil' off topic, but thats just my opinion on tv dinners.

The maligned chicken nugget, mac cheese, and brownie dinner has 480 calories. At 88 cents a pop, you can get your daily caloric intake for less than the cost of a gallon of gas.

Just sayin'.

Go to your local grocery store and watch the frozen foods section for a bit. Note the general health and obesity level of people who frequent the frozen foods aisle.

Then spend some time around the fresh, healthy foods and observe the general health and obesity level of healthy foods customers.

After making the above observations, ask youself in which group you'd like to belong.

Trader Joes sells very good frozen meals. There are 4-5 imported from France and the ingredient list on them doesn't look like a chemistry book.

"Tortellini with Fire Roasted Vegetables" or "Pasta with Asparagus and Brie", anyone?

LOL

My father and I were doing some grocery shopping together the other day. I had a cart and he had a cart loading it with stuff for my soon to be(knock on wood) centenarian grandmother. At the checkout he was giving me grief about his cart vs my cart. Stuff for my grandmother was @75% fruits/veggies/dairy/meats. My cart was just the opposite.

OT...I like the Stoufers and the Marie dinners as well. Boston Market has a couple that are pretty good too, I really like their frozen Pot Pies.

you're sadly misinformed. flash frozen vegetable are very nutritious.

Some Gourmet Markets sell awesome frozen food at a reasonable price..Down here in Miami I buy alot of stuff at Epicure Market..You can get a nice 13oz frozen dinner for 5-6 bucks and it tastes just like you are eating in a restaurant..

They sell alot of really good food there.
