Front crankshaft seal leaking

In addition to the oil pan leaking on the Accord, a local mechanic also found the front crankshaft seal leaking. This will be the first semi major repair for the Honda. 155,000 miles.

Seeping or leaking? Seeping is best left alone. Also, It's really rare for Honda oil pans to leak unless someone had the pan off before and botched it up.

If you don't see oil spots on the ground where you park the car, I wouldn't worry about things. Some hack is libel to CAUSE a problem while trying to fix a non-problem. Just sayin'.....

2005 with the 2.4l.

If the drip's not too bad, you can leave it until the next timing-belt change. Mostly the same labor is needed for the seal as for the timing-belt.

At that point, it would be a good idea to have all the seals at the front of the engine replaced at once.

It has a timing chain. I'm going to look at it tomorrow and take it from there. Having the oil pan gasket replaced monday and am switching over to Mobil 1 High Mileage.
