Front brake squeal

Six years ago I installed power slot rotors and hawk performance pads on my Tacoma. Added brake caliper grease to the pins and back of the pads. The pads are not worn and produce less brake dust. How often do you pull your pads to clean and regrease everything?

I pulled the rear drums and cleaned every thing. Very little break dust since the shoes been on there for three months and the squeal is still there.

When it comes time to change them. I have to say I'm lucky the only time I had brake squeal was when I had my brakes done professionally by Sears once. That was a mistake to begin with. I was in for tires on a new to me car and it needed brakes, I didn't have the time.

I spray the backs of the pads with the Permatex blue spray when I do a brake job and I'm convinced it is because of that, that they don't make noise.

You may have some rust on the rotor(s) that is causing the squeel. I usually find that this rust is between the rotor face and the rotor hat. Something is rubbing!
