By now, It's likely "too late" for you to even make an insurance claim....."Oh...hey, I errr....just got into an accident, well, it was my friend, who backed into me, and he wanted to let's make a deal, but he don't got the money at the moment, so I need to make a claim"

sadly, a scenario like that wouldn't work out too well with the insurance company.....to the one reply regarding taking the vehicle to a super store and "discovering" the damage, just hope the store doesn't have cameras.....but really, most do.....and if it's a store you frequent a lot, I wouldn't personally take this route.....as it may affect your "service" in the future...

You sure it's only the door shell? The beam isn't bent or dinged is it? If not, he got lucky

Take it to an automatic car wash, that'll tell you how bad the damage really is, if it leaks.....bad, if it don't, not too bad....but it really looks like bad damage.....may honestly be easier for him to just pay the deductible.....BUT, if you were to report it, your "friend" would have risk of losing/dropped insurance I suppose, if he's had as many accidents as it sounds....

Most stores only have cameras covering the entrances/exits. For theft. They dont catch anything more than a couple rows out.

Per an earlier post in this thread.

I can't speak for your area, but around my area we don't speak that way about our pastors, especially by bypassing the censor and using disguised profanities toward them.

I had two very large door hits like that on my Intrepid. Since it was on the passenger side I did not notice it the day it happened. I had visited a Toys r Us and Home Depot that day. Trust me, any decent insurance company is not gonna have a problem with a claim made later, as long as both parties tell the same story. For a fake "hit and run" in a parking lot, nobody is gonna ask that you pull tapes from the security cameras for this - it would take a serious assault or worse to justify pulling tapes. In my case I let my body guy dolly the doors out and fill them. my whole repair was under $1k. If you can find doors at a junk yard, great.

Well, it's been a little while, thought I'd report back. Car is not yet repaired, but will be soon. Friend wanted to go the repair properly route, so I hit a few body shops (thanks for the Walker's suggestion, but can't go there for personal reasons). Rosalunds, the shop I will be using, quoted me for $1930, which is 2 door skins replaced, and painting of skins and quarter panels to blend. He didn't want (and neither did I really) to deal with finding 2 doors at a junk yard and dealing with transport and all the extra time it would take. Thanks for the advice, and will show pics when work is complete!
