Frams with metal endcaps with ecore design.

Appreciate the post but I can't watch anymore amateurish, >15 min. videos.

However, I realize keeping up with the EVERCHANGING construction details of oil filters takes time and viewing effort.

Hmmm....maybe dissections of all oil filters should be done / updated annually?

Not much of a problem as you can see a frame preview when you hover the pointer over the video bar and can just skip to the good part.

Is it a problem to have those two bits sticking out on the metal cap version?

The new one will be a bypass leaker for sure. I saw it on the ph4967. On that one the cost cutting was too much for the new version, even the can was smaller. But the element even smaller yet in the can. As cheap as it gets, except silicone adbv. . $4 is cheap so it fits the price. Whip City has shown the PH and TG adbv are much thinner than the Ultra, so that is cheapened too.

Fram has always soiled its reputation with low tier products.
Econo buyers usually cry the loudest. I don't understand why Fram doesn't learn from their mistakes...

Will it ever get back to Fram that they're top-of-the-line filter is a failure ? Bob's buyers are probably .00001 % of their sales .

It did a long time ago.
Bad news travels fast.
Non Bobbers still research purchases and the Ultra search is far from stellar.

That's the way all filter makers pretty much get away with increasing cheapening and shoddy quality. Because not many people in the grand scheme of things even know what the inside of an oil filter looks like, and certainly don't understand oil filter efficiency specs or performance curves.

Not my video.

Sometimes Fram accomodates what the manufacturer wants / requests or mandates. If you ever owned a Kia or Hyundai for the past 5-6 years, you would come to realize that the 9688 Fram EG may be built totally different than the GM or Chrysler equivalent Fram EG oil filter, standing right next to the 9688 on the store shelf

The best advice I can come up with...... try to examine the filter inside the store and if you like it - buy it. Otherwise begin a search on another brand name in the stores and check those out. Sooner or later, you will find a suitable oil filter for your needs and price range.

Some folks don't want all that shopping and research hassle. So they just stick with the OEMs.
