Fram XG7317 cut open 17,000 miles

First time cutting and posting, so forgive the not so great pics, I’m no 53Stude 😎. This Fram had been on our Armada for 18 months, and right at 17k miles 205k-222k. No tears that I could find and the adbv was still very flexible.

I’ll be pulling an XG10575 in a week or so … maybe 9k in the forecast …
I already bought *UPF63 filters after seeing these twisters …
Don’t see a *rating on them but they sure look like M1’s

Whoa, ride the waves. Looks nothing like OG media looked at similar fcis. That said, no tears means it got the job done. I'd say you got money's worth on this one.

Other than the wavy stuff I’d say it did ok. Do you know the date code? What oil and filter went back in and on?

Nissan would probably spec the 6607-size if it were up to them so they could consolidate all of their vehicles on one size but on trucks, SUVs, etc, where there's space, they spec the 7317. My G35 specs a 6607 but a 7317 easily fits, plus we had (2) Hondas so I can buy the same filter for (3) of our cars.

Other than the wavy stuff I’d say it did ok.

What do the waves indicate ?

I think that's exactly what happens, because it's cellulose.

Where are you seeing the date code? 163rd day of 2021 was before the change to the non-wired back media IIRC.

I can tell by looking at it in the posted photos that it's not wire backed.

ex-Nissan tech here. As far as I am aware, or at least so was the case at the dealership I worked at, they did use the 6607 size (Nissan 15208-65F0E) filter on everything. However I personally prefer the 7317 size (15208-9E01A) and that is what I use on my Pathfinder.

Yep! I got this vehicle unexpectedly in June of 2021, it was a family member’s and it was very well taken care of, and for the price I couldn’t pass it up. It was my first Nissan, and coming from Ford FL1As and even FL820s, I was very surprised that the oil filter is so small.

Thanks, Stude. The oil that went back in is a Franken-brew. 3.5 quarts of vanilla M1 5W20 SP, and 3.5 quarts of Amazon 0W40 Euro, SN rated. Filter is the 20k mile super tech MP7317!
