FRAM Ultra Xtended Guard Vs. Bosch Distance +

If they were priced the same, Fram Ultra for sure if I am buying top of the line spin on filter.

But I never bought any spin-on filter at more than $5-6. I think any mid-price oil filter is sufficient for up to 15-16k miles OCI in a clean engine. I usually bought higher quality air filter, because it is more importance the prevent the dust get into the engine than rely on oil filter to catch it after it is inside the engine.

The Ultra is a full synthetic, wire backed media filter ... the Bosch D+ isn't. The Ultra is a higher performance filter than the D+.

If both were the same price, naturally the Ultra would be a better filter.

I bought the bosch and it didnt fit, so i tried the ultra and it worked great. not much a fan of the orange can but this new synthetic is a good product. I used it with Pennzoil Ultra 5w20, it made me ultra ultra. if i cant get hyundai oem filter i will choose fram ultra.

I would definitely say Fram Ultra, both are good but the Fram Ultra is the better filter of the two.

OEM air filter.

The LS400 and S2000 air filters from dealer are much higher quality than Purolator, Fram ... that are available at auto parts stores.

The air filter of E430 is difference, any German brand air filter is as good as from dealer.

Since air filter can lasted up to 4-5 years 50-60k miles, $5-15 extra cost isn't much over that long period.

I agree and noticed the same on German cars and maybe also on Japanese cars. (Many Lexus parts are Toyota parts. I did have a cabin air filter dealer installed on my Mercedes that started to smell bad exactly on the two year mark though).

But on the domestics, I don't think OEM filters are that much better.

Also, while quality might be high, efficiency may not be. Nobody says what the filtering efficiency is. Eg for Mercedes oil filters, if you look at Purolator, they sell the Mann as a Classic so only claim 97.5% efficiency.
