I can see a lot using my inspection camera through the oil fill hole. The guides, chain, and phaser had a little crust, but saw a lot of clean metal. Filter mount was clean as a whistle. Oil was dark, but still transparent. Hardly a black tar mess.
The important Secondary issue is the media was strong. I could not physically harm it nor dismount it from the end caps with my hands.
The way I see it is if Donaldson can build a 25k mile filter for Amsoil, maybe Fram has one too, but simply doesn't label it as such.
I just shifted over to Pennzoil HM, as I got a bunch of it at a fantastic price, so we'll see how she keeps trucking.
I don't think some people realize it, but every post like yours, which may eventually show some really good data (in addition to the pictures,) will serve to push those on the fence to extend their intervals and use resources to an appropriate extent.
Even as much of a newb as I still consider myself, I bet just sounding relatively intelligent when speaking about oil and filters with friends and in posts on other forums furthers the cause of debunking stereotypes regarding shorter intervals (oil and filters,) snake oils, and other oil and maintenance related topics.
