It would by pass and you wouldn't know it and your vehicle would still probably last just as long. However I doubt many filters get clogged up under normal conditions even when ran twice the recommended suggested length

I use my filters at least to its recommended life sometimes longer.
I do 10k on motorcraft.

Heck, it wasn't that long ago we were running 3k OCI's, so I have no prob in doing the idiot light OCI which is 2x the old OCI's.

BITOG convinced me to go back to Fram, albeit the top of the line Ultra Syn. Sure would be interesting to see the particle count vs. Wix XP.

Also using PU now, used to be M1.

Thanks OP & BITOG!

That's not good logic for me, for an inexpensive filter.

and what if it fails at 1k miles? !!! I guess our OFI should be 500, right?

You know, spark plugs are less than $10ea, that's why I change them at every OCI. Can't be too sure.

Oh, and I want to be sure I get every last drop of oil out, that's why I would never leave a filter on there. Oh wait, you mean the engine has pathways that hold 1/2 qt + !?! I guess I need to vacuum all that out too.

and on and on

I love that I can not change my filter every time. Saves $, time, hassle.

Fram also has a footnote after the 15K that says. Follow recommended change intervals as noted in your vehicle owners manual. Sounds like a way to get out of paying a warranty claim if your manual says every 5K and you take it to 15K.

Good job catching that one. Those people who work in marketing are smart devils
You never know what the other hand is up too. Well other than stuffing money in the corporate piggy bank

WIth this logic just let the filter plug and stay in bypass, and add oil as needed problem solved.

I think on Syn oil 15K is fine....

now I dont think its a good idea to use DINO oil for 15K no matter what filter.

Even the Micogreen

The 15k is in reference to the filter, not the oil. As long as the oil is changed at proper intervals the filter should be able to go 15k no problem. Doesn't matter if you use Synthetic or Dino, but you may have 2 or 3 OCI's with the Dino before you hit the 15k on the filter whereas with Synthetic it may be 1 or 2 OCI's.

If Honda thinks their Fram made OEM can go two OCI's the ultra certainly can.

I suspect those that are harping about changing the filter every oil change are the ones that use syn for 5k miles
