Those links are just showing how the Volvo is the same filter as the MANN & Purolator but to answer your question I have 5 Fram Ultra's. I pulled out one of those Ultra's & installed it the other day when doing this change. I'll use the rest of the remaining x4 & then go to some other brand filter. I put in 8 quarts of Mobil 1 FS 0w-40.

You can see they are using melted "foam" looking end caps (some sort of melted plastic I'm sure). This style seems to penetrate the media more. This is definitely going to be better & highly likely why they are built this way to prevent the ends from coming apart like these flimsy disc style end caps.

The Mann for $12 seems like a good deal. Amaz might be high on the Volvo compared to a dealer.

I've been running the FRAM TG11955 in my F-150. It's a similar style cartridge filter. I've never had that problem.

Agree, STP 10k filter I can get for $7.52 with promo or sometimes down to $2.40 with their other promo with air filter. Currently it's the top contender to replace these Ultra's but any problems with those I'll just go for the MANN.

Isn't that something?. It all depends on the filter model ha!
I wonder if the metal screen is getting in the way but that should all be tallied properly for manufacturing. The media should really be melted to the disc ends deeper than what they're doing.
