I went to WalMart today to recon the Fram Ultra selection. I found an opened Ultra (shame on someone) and unless I missed it because it's hidden well, I didn't see the manufacturer date code on either the filter or the box. I was specifically looking at the XG3614. Where do they hide the code? Ed

That's interesting I have never checked for the date codes, but regardless of where the code is, the synthetic media and silicone valve should be good nearly indefinitely if that's any consolation.

I bet it is a very hard to read marking on the top of the can etched or engraved in the paint. WIX does that... You have to hold it in the right light to read it...

It usually is hard to see. Use a strong light to inspect the can for the date code. I think it's typically on the side of the can.
