That's suspicious to say the least. I have a fu rifht here that doesn't have burrs. In fact I have a few filters of different brands laying around and when I looked I saw no burrs in any of them. The one the op showed is defective and it cannot be denied.

Explain how said filter is unusable and will harm his vehicle.

Its risk anslysis. Why use a filter that wasn't finished correctly and leaves burrs to potentially come off into the oil stream to wreck you motor. Good ole common sense is all

There are no more "burrs" on those holes vs any other punched out hole used on oil filter center tubes. Just because the lip on the inside of the center tube curves out a little bit from the punching process doesn't mean there are burrs on it. I really don't see any real burrs in those photos.

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Since when does common sense dictate many topics that take place on this forum?

What part?

Scroll first ~15 posts, one injects off topic mention combined false info regarding standard wix/ng. Same false info as in another recent thread, at least that one was semi on topic. Not going to get more specific than that.

For my part I'd hope the Fram rep would have better things to do than waste his time with this thread.

Exactly and I totally lost some respect for the OP. I have been using them for a while without any issue. I bet Jay from FRAM will say there is no issue

Or not! There were no burrs shown in any of the photos that could become detached and "wreck you motor". What are you guys smoking?

Yeah, saw that and made appropriate comments.

Agreed! Much ado about nothing...

Im sorry you feel that way 51 but pictures don't lie and there are differences in some of those pictures.. Hope its just a sloppy batch but whatever the case there is something different as anyone can see in the pictures i posted. When something was built a certain way for a long time and then something changed it is no longer uniform when its no longer uniform something is usually a miss.

I sent a PM to Motorking already im waiting for his take on this..

Good thing you didn't use that filter those "burrs" would grenade an engine in short order

My bet is this thread will have no effect what so ever on the Ultra still being a top choice for a solid, reasonably priced filter here on BITOG.

I don't see anything either in the photos that would be a problem.

yeah hold your breath colt i will see if the check is in the mail yet...

Also as i pointed out the ultras are getting sloppy will they destroy your engine ??? Do the purolaters or the e core filters or the cheap Chinese filters destroy your engine?? Probably not but looking inside the newer ultras and comparing them to the older ones the newer ones are getting Wonky looking. Im not going to argue about it im just posting information about it. Maybe its best to just use oem but most of them are just as bad.. Im thinking about going back to the motorcraft also. Some people run them for 10,000 miles. Im going to see how the ultras look by my next oil change if they look like they did when i first started using them i will continue if not i will treat them like i treat all the other frams.

I have a Fram Ultra on my Silverado and plan on using it for two OCIs. And your right-plenty of cheap filters installed by the Jiffy Lube type businesses, The Firestone Tire Stores, Other Tire Stores, Independent garages, etc., during oil changes and they are not buying a lot of motors.
