Fram ultra extreme cold extended filter interval

OEM seems to be cheaper when not on sale.

The Hastings LF240 for the G37 went up a couple bucks, from around $7.99 to $9.99. The LF113 was $1 more on both sides. Some of the other part numbers are closer to $6 or $7. I forgot to check the F-150's equivalent. They're still okay, but not great.
The stupid G37 filter is always one of the highly priced ones if a filter line has variable pricing, so that's problematic with Wix, Hastings, and Baldwin. When a filter line has pretty much even pricing across the board, like Fram Ultra or M1, splurging on the higher end filter begins to make more sense. An extra $1 or $2 isn't a big deal. But, when comparing a $4.99 Wix 51515 to a $12 Fram Ultra, that's a big deal.

Can't hurt! I'm checking stuff with another supplier. I had a visit from a supplier today, and in addition to some hard to find Shell stuff, he also sells Wix and AC Delco. I've got some comparing to do!

Well, I'd call that acceptable. If it were 80 cents cheaper than the Ultra, well, then that's not so good of a deal, but for 80 cents cheaper than the TG, I'd be up for that.
I wonder what caused them to get their pricing at a much more sensible level than it was before. I've got the old paper catalogs here to compare, and boy oh boy....

Do yourself a favour, though, and don't go to their site and look up the price of motor oil. I will not be responsible for any heart attacks or strokes that will result from that. Now I know where they added the dollars they subtracted from the filters.

I dunno. Maybe they are supplying to some government's fleet for these prices. And the decision is made by somebody's brother in law.

I just took off an ACDelco PF52 Classic off my Olds, and it's a good thing I changed it out because the gasket had a very slow weep that I did not know was there. From how the filter is mounted, wind from driving was blowing oil back onto the block. Filter was not loose, and I put a reference mark on all my oil filters when they are being installed, so I know where 3/4 to 1 turn is.
I can see how two OCI's on one filter would be ok, but I just don't have a lot of faith in oil filter base gasket durability, so I like to change my oil filter at every oil change.

Hey Akela, have you tried calling Alder Auto Parts? They carry most Hastings and Baldwin and they're going to be cheaper than AG. But they have to order it in, usually they can get it next day.
I looked at AG's oil pricing. It looks rediculous.
