For those who formally used or that are unhappy with the new Fram Ultra and Endurance oil filters - what will you be moving on to that you believe is a better oil filter (even if not rated up to 20K - 25K miles) ?

Most likely Premium Guard XL’s from Rock Auto as of current plan. That may also include the AAP CarQuest Premium if I run down the street.

Possibly wire backed BOSS or Fram Titanium (same as Endurance from what everyone says) or just throw my hands in the air and get factory filters. Good/bad/indifferent they work for literally millions of drivers at every other oil change that have no clue on car maintenance and still get 200k+ from the vehicles.

Many years before I knew of BITOG or it was even a thing, I didn’t have magnetic drain plugs, FilterMag, synthetic media or probably many choices.

Auto Parts store conventional oil, whatever was on sale and probably basic orange can Fram or White Purolator with random Gunk Motor Flush and every Teflon or soak into metal additives. The only switch I recall was going back to Toyota factory filter on my Corolla which got rid of some startup noise probably from a poor ADBV since filter was sideways mounted on that. That might have been discussed on a forum to get me to change that. Then came internet forums and options so Amsoil EAO, Wix, Pure Ones, Factory, search for NOS on the much sought after old Toyota and Honda filters. Then back to Frams, now away from Frams.

For receipts for Hyundai while under warranty combined with Premium Guard not recommending use, that will stay OEM while I do it. Once my son moves I’ll recommend the same if he has to go somewhere.

Like a sheep following the BITOG bandwagon, I painfully will try an Asian made Premium Guard brand(s) filter soon. Shame on U.S. manufacturers.

I believe the green shirt fellow might be @ZeeOSix? @Glenda W.?

Good ole Wix! Well I used to only use amsoil/ wix filters then I experimented with the Fram Endurance since they are the same maker. However I’ll have to do some more research since I’m back to using amsoil products again. No idea if Amsoil or Royal purple filters are cream of the crop and maybe the Endurance filter are factory seconds or something for Wally World. Just find it hard to believe all the amsoil filters will have the leaf springs all wrinkled. For the price and somewhat good quality still it’s hard to beat a plain wix, Purolator one. Most of them are 23ish microns @ 99%.

I would go with Baldwin filters myself. The best price would be from a local parts store that carries them, not an online purchase. They are OEM quality without a limit on how low they can be used. That is what they say about the filter I use on my 2025 Toyota with the 2.5L A25A-FKS engine. That filter is their # B33. To find your local parts store and proper filter I would look it up on their website at https://www.baldwinfilters.com/us/en.html They make quality filters made in USA, that would be my suggestion.

After the latest Whack-A-Mole filter deep dive, got some Carquest Premium and MicroGard Selects for my vehicles for the next couple years. I'd also use other PGI made extended life filters, as they are the same in a different branded can. If those go south by the time they are used up, then it will be another WAM exercise. If Champ Labs would put a seal on the Endurance leaf spring like the OG Ultra had, then I'd go with the Endurance ... but doubt that's going to happen.

All made by Champion Labs. They all have show some issues along the way - ruffled leaf spring, choked down louvers.

I think the dissatisfaction with the Ultras is overblown. I’m using up my stash and then switching to Microgard Select from the ORAP that is 5 min from my house. They also have the WIX XPs which seem good but 50% more expensive.

I have FRAM Tough Guards on much of my stuff.
F-150: FRAM TG11955
Gravely: FRAM TG3614
Kawasaki Mule: TG4967
Generac: Microgard Select
VW: Hengst
I'll probably be running a mix of FRAM and Premium Guard made filters, except for the VW.
