This filter was used on my 2001 mercury grand marquis for 4500 miles with Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic 5w30, replaced with a Fram ultra xg2 & Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic 5w20.
$6.82 and they're still silicone ADBVI would keep using those if they weren't 9 bux and with a nitrile adbv.
I used to not like the fiber end caps but they've grown on me, in the same way I used to not like fram until 2 1/2 years ago, now frams are all I use. I will say there definitely has been improvements made on the extra guard and the tough gaurd in the last couple years since trico took over, they seem to have all but removed the metal crimp seems from the extra guards and the tough guards and the media spacing has improved dramatically. I'm a happy camper!!That filter looks pretty good. If you can get around the non metal end caps it looks nice..
Nice!$6.82 and they're still silicone ADBV
Unfortunately a lot of the more popular ones (TG7317s for example) have gone nitrile here. The TG2 is a slower mover, there may be some silicone ones left. I still occasionally see OG XG2s still.$6.82 and they're still silicone ADBV
Kind of a similar story here, use to hate anything but metal end caps.. No longer, I tore apart (even after it was left open side up in a big rain storm) an acdelco not too long ago and was sold. No more 10$+ filters needed for me.I used to not like the fiber end caps but they've grown on me, in the same way I used to not like fram until 2 1/2 years ago, now frams are all I use. I've yet to have problems with the new Ultras on my parents vehicles, I'll have to remember to take pictures next time.Better quality than the ultra. Decent pleat spacing and no waviness.
Doubt there will be any real problems with the new non-wire backed Ultra, except for maybe some wavy pleats now and then which really isn't a real problem.I've yet to have problems with the new Ultras on my parents vehicles, I'll have to remember to take pictures next time.

*Makes a WM Super Tech oil filter even more appealing ?Kind of a similar story here, use to hate anything but metal end caps.. No longer, I tore apart (even after it was left open side up in a big rain storm) an acdelco not too long ago and was sold. No more 10$+ filters needed for me.
The ST2 uses a combo valve (ADV and bypass all in one), and many, including me, are not crazy about them.*Makes a WM Super Tech oil filter even more appealing ?
Engine runs constantly around 195f, all trips are usually 25 mins or more between 45-60mph. My last uoa which was in February showed all good. Are you running a 192 degree thermostat. If not you might want to consider it. Looks like that engine may be running cool and/or mostly short trips. Puddingey.
ST2 is no longer a combo valve ecore. It’s a Fram EG with a black ADBV. A few of the line is like that now that Fram and Champ are under the same ownership. I actually miss the ecore design. The ST2 uses a combo valve (ADV and bypass all in one), and many, including me, are not crazy about them.
I am sure they work fine, but just don't care for them.
The ST9688 has a standard seperate ADV and bypass, and like them a lot.
