Fram PH9688 4,500 miles

Fram PH9688 out of the 2014 Kia Rio. 7 months and 4,500 miles. Out-Quaker State HM 5W-30.

10W-40 semi-synthetic super tech and a super tech MP9688 installed (supplied by @53' Stude !)

Filter doesn’t look too bad. Not sure if normal or not, the pleats were stiff. Never seen oil filter pleats that stiff before. No tears. Silicone anti-drain back valve still soft and pliable.

Also found the valve cover gasket leaking….sigh.

Do you think the MP will have the same Fram fiber end "Caps" or the Champ made MP will be different? Anyways, this PH filter doesn't look too bad. Not a fan of ends though. Good pics.

I'm not 100% sure. My understanding was they are the same as the ST9688 but has a silicone ADBV? I think one was cut open on WhipCity on youtube last year. They did appear the same except the ADBV. End caps were metal I believe. I need to go back and look.

That MP looks like a stronger filter for sure which is expected on a 20k rated filter. Nice upgrade, Thanks!
