This is the first TG that I’ve cut open. Looks very good; I didn’t remove the media because I just wanted to see if the pleats were incredibly wavy or if there was a tear. I will be taking these TG3600s to 10K miles plus from here on out.

Cuz I know Stude53 is going to ask: OUT: M1 frankenbrew (5w20 & 15w50, made a 40 grade mix) plus this TG 3600

IN: M1 frankenbrew (5w20 & 15w50, another 40 grade mix) plus another TG 3600

Silicone ADBV was supple as was expected. I counted 46 pleats, which is 6-7 more than the EG version of this filter (PH3600), and probably a big reason why the pleats were not wavy at all. I have cut open a PH3600 that had very wavy pleats at around 5000 miles, so I decided to upgrade to Fram’s next level to see if they would make a filter I’d trust to 10K. This one sure looks good. For $7 at WM, I think I’ve found my filter for 2 OCIs and 10K miles plus.

Date code means the filter was made on April 21, 2023.

Excellent post, thank you for your time! It did the job well w/ no complaints. To me, the TG is just a boosted EG but you are probably correct that the extra pleats on the better media (over EG) kept everything looking straight. I have seen some terrible wavy EG's. For the same $7 you may consider getting an Ultra off rockauto as they are about $6-8 there but you would have to buy a couple to make shipping worthwhile then it might end up about $10 a filter.

WM has the XG3614 for $9.26, so I'd buy that if I wanted to move up. But if I end up unhappy with the TG (I have them on my Sienna and the Highlander) my next move will be to move away from Fram, and price out the competition, or possibly go back to a new filter for each OCI, and for that job, the OCOD would be good enough.

I put a FE3600 on my riding lawnmower. At 9000 miles that's probably around 300hrs, I should just change it when the outside starts to rust...
