If all the torn Purolators just seen on this chat board alone were videoed and put on YouTube, a couple of bad Frams might not seem so drastic.

Most of the people who bash Fram on Youtube couldn't explain to you the proper ADBV function, Bypass function or even which direction the oil is actually flowing. So I am not real concerned with their "opinions" especially when decades of first hand experience contradict it.

I call them like I see them, without an agenda, so I said the original 3600 was pretty ugly. This in spite of having run multiple examples of the same filter without those results before. The other pleats were a little wavy, I am actually wondering if there is coolant intrusion in that vehicle I am going to look into it because those results were not typical. Part of the reason you cut filters in the first place.

I could have simply not posted it, but I did. Again, no agenda. It does make me wonder how many torn Puro's were NOT posted by the fanboys though, who simply refused to admit Puro had/has a problem.

ONE bad Fram was enough for the guy who began all of this filter gutting with his "Minimopar oil filter study".

Same could be said about the Fram failures. Purolator had an obvious media tearing problem going on. Nearly a hundred reported torn filters, and I doubt any were purposely torn just to post hype on this chat board.

Heck no! not on this board; our members are above reproach...

That said, I wonder how many fan boys didn't post a faulty filter? Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? Although we did have some members posting pre tearing dated Purolators and bragging about them being tear free..

Torn mid tier filters after ~3000 mile usage as well as their "new" line up not only having tearing media, but also tearing ADBV's. Talk about a poor excuse for a filter as well as poor American manufacturing.

That said, the PH8A in this thread looks great as opposed to the PH3600. My recently ran PH16 looked just as good as KC's PH8A with ~5000 miles of usage.

I dare you to find a better looking filter especially at that price.

Especially one with a 95% efficiency rating for 3-something bucks. Good luck.

Very true.

As much as I like WIX, their combo valve is known to leak thus making them less efficient. I believe the Fram rep here said their efficiency isn't even measurable. Some of you may consider the source, but seeing how he's our only filter rep here, we have nothing else to go from. Some of their budget filters (xx9888 and xx3600 equivs.) have the traditional bypass so that is another story.

Purolators leak due to tears and poor quality and therefore, none of their offerings interest me. I wonder how efficient they are?

As this time, Chinese made house brand filters do not interest me. Who else makes budget filters?
