This one off a 2007 Scion tC. Unknown miles nor mileage at the time of removal. When it came into my possession, the filter was bottom side down. I was told it had been like that for years. I was quite surprised to see half the amount of oil still inside. The ADBV really did a good job. It was quite messy and in poor (used) condition. Not worth cutting the media out. I attribute that to poor vehicle maintenance. As the family “Bobs” guy now, I’m helping with all the in-laws vehicle.

Planning to use Valvoline Restore and Protect on the next OC for cleaning and oil consumption issues.

Personally, I’d skip Fram and go with STP XL or MG MSL. I’ll use one of these since I have that in my inventory, which is what I’ll install on DW nephew’s tC, plus Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w-30.

Looks pretty good. Can't be too old since it has louvers in the center tube. What's the date code on the side of the can?

Did the job. What went on filter wise?

Thank You

I have cut one open, have one more not cut see no reason to use it. Element paper is miniaturized. I have nicer filters to use now. For build quality the old one has the felt seal for bypass valve spring.
The felt seal is no guarantee of a seal unfortunately. Here's some other alternatives for this part number for others. Although neither comes with silicon ADBV like this PH model. I buy the ST4967 for cheap so it works.

Seems high on price after the Boss sale, and the Boss is USA and a top of the line filter. The longer PBL1477 is still only $6.20 on Amazon.

FWIW I'm using the TG version of this on my camry, Going to keep it for 3 oil changes (13-15K miles) and then I'll cut that one open.
