I think bypass seal explains it. Felt, fibers, cardboard, call it something, it isn’t solid.

The way you described it with the term "has the felt seal" made it sound like it could be similar to the OG Ultra leaf spring seal built into the metal end cap. That's why I asked if you simply meant it has fiber (non-metal) end caps.
