Fram PH16 cut open - 5,000 miles

Fram PH16 off my friend's 1996 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L. Was in use for 5,000 miles with Pennzoil HM 5w30. The Jeep has 130k miles on it. Pennzoil HM 5w30 and a Mopar MO-090 filter went back on. I think these filters are a good value for this application. Pleats seemed in good shape, everything was held together firmly, end caps were secured to the media pretty well. My friend grabbed the more expensive Mopar filter this time around just because our local WalMart seems to be awful about stocking filters. Usually he uses SuperTech or Fram Extra guards for this Jeep.

5000 miles on this type of Fram Orange is Fine.

Looks good and its rated a 5k filter. I think the ST filter that he also uses is better but regardless it did the job as expected.

5k is a good idea on this filter. This one held up nicely. Those AMC 4.0L I6's are still out there going strong!

The cheaper fram is a better filter than the more costly Purolator made Mopar filter.

Agreed. The Mopar filters aren't anything special for the price, and even have a nitrile ADBV. Basically a Purolator Classic with black paint and a Mopar logo.

The filter looks good. 5K is definitely the sweet spot OCI for an Extra Guard.
