I disagree, i know people who have used fram for years. Its nonsense. Although if you can get motorcraft for 4$, id do that..i recall fram being the same if not more. I tend to buy the higher end/midrange filters like fram tg or ultra or pure ones. For the price the MC cant be beat but the Fram ruining your engine...a bit exaggerated.

This appears to be a perfect example of a person who has received their formal education from the internet.

Cardboard anti-drainback valves? Really?

Whoever wrote that is clueless.

First, NO filter has a "cardboard ADBV".

Second, I have not heard of FRAM filters, even the OCOD, being a good way to kill a mod motor. How many F150s, taxis, and police cars have an OCOD and go hundreds of thousands of miles?

Third, the only thing wrong with the OCOD is that it's priced higher than it should be.

While the DoubleGuard and the High-Mileage filters are gimmicks, the TG and the FU are good.

Motorcraft filters are a great product no doubt about it and the price is great.

Fram has cardboard end caps yes but they hold up fine with a basic OC. Their premium lines are actually really nice filters as well.

cardboard anti-brain back...

just when you thought you've heard it all on bitog.

I wouldn't take advice from people who make statements like that.

Use the MC filter for your application, they appear well built. If FRAM is your thing, it won't kill anything. They work fine in most applications.

People on that site are knowledgeable about Ford trucks, but not about motor oil.

They'd be perfectly content running 20-50 on a stock modular that is short tripped back and fourth to work.

Jeep Forum is chock full of similar nonsense when it comes to oil and filters. Fighting it is useless, although sometimes I try anyway.

"Pennzoil is high in detergents so it breaks down faster you have to change it as soon as it starts to turn color."

That's just one example of a recent post on Jeep Forum, and why I come here to talk about oil! (And filters.)

Awesome. Information on fram filters is easy to get yet it seems that the genius who wrote that didn't bother looking. Please tell me someone set him straight. Actually why bother. Some folks are so set in a belief no amount of data or proof will sway them.
What scares me is this guy might have a car and may actually share the road with some of us.
Be careful out there

Clevy, I steered him in the right direction.

Scary part is he has a very nice classic muscle car in his signature.

You're not going to see something like that on a GM forum....

Cardboard, plastic, foam, even steel ADBVs, a GM built vehicle is built to use ANYTHING! Inside the oil pan is stamped a huge "S"! That enables it to jump tall buildings, outrun a locomotive, pull stumps better than a donkey....
