I didn't answer because it was a loaded question. You twist and extract a small amount of my words and make further interesting points and generalizations which I do not disagree with, I make the same decisions daily just like any person. It has little to do with FutureDoc's garbage nonsense.

Who specifically do you believe is lying about the photos of their failed filters?

I did not twist at all and quoted exactly. I wanted to know what the constitutes the point when you bemoan a product and you are hiding behind something someone else is stating.

You are going to stop using a filter because the masses here hate them?

Sorry but that is some weak sauce...

They are still perfectly fine. Plenty of filters that are new and old production that continue to provide outstanding filtration. Feel free to browse any of the filters I have posted, or I can shoot you the links if you can't find them.

The group has "decided" that Purolators aren't good options anymore, but there is plenty of photgaphic evidence that proves otherwise.

Here is the final answer.

You stated you want to buy a filter from Walmart because you get a 32 cent discount.

Since you are making your decision with this as the deciding factor...

you MUST buy the filter that is cheaper

I dont know what filter that is and to be honest it does not matter because using your 10% discount is all that matters to you.

Do you want to buy the yogurt the from ALDI for $2.99, or the yogurt from Jewel for $4.99 with a 10% discount....What a joke.

E10 and is causing filter media issues. All predicted during the GF5 ISAC committee meetings. Ive had slimed blocked media on new engine with bad gas on my new cars.

Are we seeing the same rate of filter failures by other brands? No.

You "claims" are onus probandi, ad ignnorantiam, filled with kettle logic, constantly force a false dilemma, and claim that all criticism/reports of failure must be "perfect" analysis. If you want to claim that Purolator filters are fine, argue from your evidence (ie prove it). The "tearolator" camp has already addressed the "pic or it didn't happen" crowd (burden of proof on the 'interwebz'). Start collecting your own data and compare it to the failure rates of other filters reported on BITOG. We act on the information at hand, not the information we wish we could have. You can't say that because we do not have more data, everything is honky-dory when there is a large number of reported failures given the "C&P" population. For example(s) How many Takata fatalities were reported to label that product defective? If you get 60+ reports from a McDonalds about food poising, it does not matter how many that location might serve because there is a small % of people (likely similar to BITOG folks) that report to the Health Dept... and you BET that the Health Dept will inspect that issue.

^Better send these to the lab and ask for a large N analysis. Somethings are easily observed, a torn filter (even with opening it up) is easy to identify. We in the academic community call it a forehead analysis because it is so clear the item hits you between the eyes.

Neither one...... pass!
No silicone ADBV means I keep my wallet in my pocket. Spend a couple dollars more and use the same filter for two OCIs.

Lets take a tangible example such as the Toyota floor mat debacle. Their analysis proved that it was just old men and women who caused the majority of their failures. They used proven scientific methods and analysis to come to the conclusion despite of the redneck hogwash you declare to be all the proof necessary. In my neck of the woods we call your methods a load of bull puckey. I even gave you the secret key to knowledge called six sigma and yet you ramble off nonsense. Keep it up, is great entertainment.

Because it (Sigma Six) makes the complete opposite argument of your agenda and (possibly) irrelevant if the issue was a design flaw due to poor pleat design. I though you were just googling [censored] Stat items.

So if we were expecting a 3.5 (or there about) failures PER MILLION. To cut and post 60+ failures, BITOG had to open about 17 million filters. We can safely say that purolator is NOT meeting those standards. The "irrelevant" part is that this standard is dedicated to flaws in the manufacturing process... ie defective items from a non-design standpoint. The wide pleating and or brittle media is a design flaw (perhaps the media is you manufacturing issue???). Otherwise, try again.

if only there really was 60+ failures then your words might make some sort of sense. Unfortunately we are just back to chasing our tail with backyard amateur redneck tribology where cletus, spunkmeyer, and typhoid mary forgot to mark it on the chalkboard, and take pictures, and record it in the journal, and not cut the media while opening the filter.

Your ignorance and Wikipedia dictionary must be all you have going for you because every argument you start is dumbfounded, meaningless and shows that you are the furthest thing from the scientific community.

My friend, while you struggle with basic concepts, I dont start the arguments, I finish them.

Well then you've been trying to finish on several threads for a long time now. But don't worry they make drugs now for guys that can't finish just saw a commercial about it. A lot of side effects though. Guess you gotta take the good with the bad kinda like purolator. Lol

Buy a better filter... If those are your only choices thats a shame.. We are educated enough to realize there are much better choices in filters. cut open a fram extra guard and see for yourself, really!
As for purolater we changed to mostly wix at my engine shop. Why would you take a chance?

LoL ... speaking of "sauce".

And there is plenty of photographic evidence to prove they tear ... a lot.

Cut one open and put some side pressure on those spread out pleats down near the end cap ... you will see it doesn't take much side pressure to hear the media tearing. Now do that for hours on end to simulate the pleats being pushed sideways over an entire OCI.
