I'm still waiting for someone to provide some inkling of scientific analysis versus the typical redneck him-hawing that goes on around here. I expect to reach retirement before an actual six sigma analyst feels compelled enough to discredit the small sect of typical actors who bemoan a proven quality product.

Are we seeing the same
rate of filter failures by other brands? No.
You "claims" are onus probandi, ad ignnorantiam, filled with kettle logic, constantly force a false dilemma, and claim that all criticism/reports of failure must be "perfect" analysis. If you want to claim that Purolator filters are fine, argue from your evidence (ie prove it). The "tearolator" camp has already addressed the "pic or it didn't happen" crowd (burden of proof on the 'interwebz'). Start collecting your own data and compare it to the failure rates of other filters reported on BITOG. We act on the information at hand, not the information we wish we could have. You can't say that because we do not have more data, everything is honky-dory when there is a large number of reported failures given the "C&P" population. For example(s) How many Takata fatalities were reported to label that product defective? If you get 60+ reports from a McDonalds about food poising, it does not matter how many that location might serve because there is a small % of people (likely similar to BITOG folks) that report to the Health Dept... and you BET that the Health Dept will inspect that issue.
^Better send these to the lab and ask for a large N analysis. Somethings are easily observed, a torn filter (even with opening it up) is easy to identify. We in the academic community call it a forehead analysis because it is so clear the item hits you between the eyes.
Lets take a tangible example such as the Toyota floor mat debacle. Their analysis proved that it was just old men and women who caused the majority of their failures. They used proven scientific methods and analysis to come to the conclusion despite of the redneck hogwash you declare to be all the proof necessary. In my neck of the woods we call your methods a load of bull puckey. I even gave you the secret key to knowledge called six sigma and yet you ramble off nonsense. Keep it up, is great entertainment.
