Your posts are, to be blunt, an amazing contradiction point to the many of the knowledge bases of this site.

Not that she didn't harm her engine....

So people don't tamper with it and blame them for not putting it right.

No catastrophic failure.

The Fram did it's job.

Oil filters don't have to be overbuilt with 1/4 inch steel cans and miracle filtration elements.

All they do is filter your oil.

I do not live close to her, so I can't just stop by and change it. When I did it she left her car at my house when she took a business trip out of town so I changed it. Then sent it in to see if the engine was imploding because of her lack of care.

Well whatever, it was very charitable of you to change her oil and filter and send in UOA on top of that. I can appreciate that.

Also you used synthetic PP, which should give her engine some extra cleaning. Just wondering what filter you used, I bet it wasn't an orange can.

In any case, nice job.

I agree 100%.

+2. I don't use them anymore, but I did for many uneventful years. No trashed engines, no problems at all. I stopped using them because there are better filters for the money IMO. Frams filters really aren't as bad as some people make them out to be.

her UOA did not look terrible if this is the same poster I was reading in the UOA section. She probably has some varnish and maybe a bit of sludge but nothing that a good chemtool flush can't fix.

If you are running PP in that engine I would check the oil filter at 2-3000 to see if it is full. My guess is that the Pp on the dipstick is jet black in 1500 miles. If so best change it at 3000.

I'd like to know this, too. That "PRO" filter looks identical to the civilian version.

It is the same I would guess, maybee a different media that is cheaper to make for the quickie lubes.

The filter I put on when I changed the oil was a Wix, even with shipping it was cheaper then the Fram that I took off, even from Walmart.

I know.... I don't understand the Fram-O-Death part. If that's the case why call it that.
