Fram Endurance, opened

Interesting finding: It's has a main layer and then tissue paper-like material between it and the wire backing (last pic).
Maybe Fram added something to the media that the Royal Purple doesn't have (??). Would have to cut open the same size application RP and compare to see it the media layout is exactly the same. If so, maybe that's why Fram might be saying the efficiency rating is coming in better than the advertised RP efficiency. Side note - Ascent's testing did show the RP he tested came in better than what RP claims. Different results can be seen for various reasons between test labs like I've explained in a few other threads.

Just got an idea, since I’ll be removing a mid-OCI Fram Ultra Tuesday and installing a Fram Endurance that will be removed after ~4500 miles in a week or so: I’ll get the engine warm and take a sample from the pan via the Stahlbus valve & save it, put the new filter & top-up oil in; then drive the 4k+ miles and pull another pan sample. Then send both samples in for only a particle count.

While it won’t verify efficiency like ISO 4548-12 would, it will tell us if the Endurance filters well enough to clean better than a ~7k mile Ultra does, and if so, how many ISO codes cleaner it will be (in my application).

A couple of more pics and observations. The base plate is a beast, heavy and thick......
The baseplate is a typical Champ Labs "non-ecore" type baseplate. Letters stamped "AA" baseplate', also indicative of Champ Labs made oil filter. Previous generation Super Tech, Mobil 1 (before manufacturer change) had and ACDelco UPF use very similar/same baseplate type. Sometimes other letters stamped, e.g. ZZ, but same design/ype baseplate.

As for dome markings and date code format, agreeing with DuckRyder, typical "classic" Champ Labs. Yellow ink with Product of USA. Below, dome markings from a Champ Labs made ACDelco UPF48R from THIS thread.

FE, a Champ Labs made "Fram".
