Fram Double-Guard with Teflon (PTFE) and UOA

Fram Double-Guard has the Teflon (PTFE).....has anyone ever run a used oil analysis on oil with one of these???

But even a gorilla probably has enough sense not to use an oil filter packed full of PTFE! I suspect the lack of such used oil analysis is a reflection of the fact that by the time one becomes aware and experienced enough to run a used oil analysis in the first place, they've probably realized that PTFE saturated filters are a gimmick at best and a hazard at worst. Don't hold your breath. . .

I am not curious enough to test the gorilla and swiming theory.....I am VERY curious as to if someone actually has done a used oil analysis with a Fram Double-Guard. I suspect you are correct ekpolk, but the combination exists so.....

Probably Terry would have more info on that than anyone else here as Fram is unpopular. My though would be is that the normal uoa might pick it up as an elevated insolubles or possibly as even an elevated Si.

Who knows, it may be more marketing and really releases little if any of the stuff into the oil.

Pablo, my "informal" UOA on a DoubleGuard filter on a 93 Honda Accord was premature engine failure at 99K miles!

No hard proof but I used this filter one time, and clogged passages apparently did the engine in within a year. The car received regular oil changes (mostly 10W30) at 3-3.5K intervals.

All of this occurred before I found BITOG, of course.

That filter should not be available for sale, IMHO.
